Pretty perennial sage, collected in the 1980s in the southern mountains of Mexico. Growing to 6 ft tall with dark, mahogany stems and fuzzy, rounded leaves tinted purple -- striking, bright red flowers that begin in late spring and continue until the first hard frost -- possibly all winter long. Needs good drainage and occasional summer water in sun to part shade. Dies back in colder winters and can be cut back to 2-3" in spring. Frost hardy to 5F, USDA zone 7b.
