Of limited distribution, this "blue oak" native from NW Baja to the Los Angeles basin is closely related to Q. oblongifolia - generally grows to about 30' in height. Upright in youth, eventually spreading with evergreen powdery blue leaves and silvery to tan bark. Often found growing in or near swales, it's a bit more tolerant of summer water than other western oaks, but still offers excellent summer drought adaptation. Full sun, USDA zone 8a.
