This rather widespread denizen of higher mountains of the North American west from the Cascades to the Rockies is reminiscent of the more delicate grey-green "blue spruce" (P. pungens). Narrowly conical to 30 ft or so likely in cultivation, eventually larger full sun to lightly dappled shade in lean soil. Loves an occasional summer thunder shower from the hose if not naturally provided. USDA zone 4 possibly colder.
