This, a selection by Brett Hall of UCSC Arboretum thought to be tetraploid, is larger and sturdier than the typical form. Handsome white flowers spring into summer. Thick glossy evergreen leaves paler on the reverse, tinged red in winter. Easy to grow and excellent for stabilizing soil on slopes or running under shrubs by above ground rhizomes. Occasional summer water keeps it looking its best in full sun situations. Frost hardy to USDA zone 5.
