Chilean azara, found growing in the mountains up to the timberline. A shrub, to 6ft tall, and has typical yellow flowers followed in mid-summer by relatively large red fruits making a lovely contrast with the pale green foliage. Best in partial or dappled shade with protection from western sun. Found in areas of winter rainfall and occasional summer drought, so accepting of both dry and watered summer conditions. Good drainage is suggested. Frost hardy to 15F, mid USDA zone 8.
