Smallish aspidistra with medium green, 3" wide leaves distinguished by prominent veins and forming clumps to 2ft tall and wide. Brought back from the Nanjing Botanic Garden in the 1990s and shared with us by Tony Avent of Plant Delights Nursery, this handsome and unusual cast iron plant does best in part to full shade with summer water. Evergreen and undamaged to 5F, USDA zone 7b, and expected to be root hardy below that.
