Beautiful, native tree, these from trees that grow in the Willamette Valley. Needles are up to 10" long. Bark is very dark brown when young, maturing to a yellow-red-brown, becoming very thick and furrowed, breaking up into "jigsaw puzzle" like pieces. Eventually reaches 75 feet but not quickly. Adapted to full sun, well-drained soil and little or no summer water once established. Frost hardy to -40F, USDA zone 3.
