Stunning and graceful tree with intensely fragrant white blooms in spring and summer and dark copper to coffee colored indumentum on leaves, stems, and buds. Sun to half shade, regular water. Recently M. dianica and previously Michelia yunnanensis, but always fabulous. The most dwarf of the hardy Michelias. Can be kept as a smallish shrub, 3-5 ft or trained more upright to 10 ft or so in time. Extremely hardy having survived temperatures in mid USDA zone 7.
