Arctostaphylos columbiana 'Spruce Blue' [larger form]
A Cistus introduction. From a wonderful cluster of diversity just east of Laurence Lake near Mt. Hood, OR, comes this larger form to 5' tall x 8' wide with upright branches, and nearly imbricate leaf pattern that is wooly, narrow, and indeed quite blue. The mounding form still shows the structure of the attractive orange bark. White flowers, winter to mid spring, give way to pumpkin-colored fruit from late summer into autumn. Bright light, mineral soil, careful of the summer water. USDA zone 7, probably colder.
